A Long-Awaited Dream Session in the Sand Dunes
Some locations just stick with you—the kind you drive past, imagine shoots at, and say, “One day.” For me, that place was the sand dunes in Rhode Island. It was a perfect setting for a stunning maternity shoot. The light, the texture, the open space—it’s a photographer’s dream. And finally, finally, I got the chance to shoot there. Even better, I got to capture a maternity shoot with a family. They brought so much life and love to the landscape.
This beautiful family of four is soon to become five. The mom is expecting, and the way her husband looked at her said everything—complete awe and tenderness. You could feel how much he loves and cherishes her, even in the small, quiet moments of this maternity period. Their connection was effortless and full of warmth. This made photographing them feel more like documenting something real than staging a session.
Their daughters brought the energy. The older one, a preteen, had this calm, sweet presence. She occasionally paused to watch her little sister charge through the sand with joy. The toddler was in her own world—running, laughing, tumbling through the dunes like it was her personal playground. Those candid moments of her wild joy were pure gold during these maternity times.
What made this session so special wasn’t just the location I’d dreamed about for ages—it was how everything aligned. The light was golden, the breeze just enough to give movement to the moment. This growing family brought all the heart, especially during this maternity chapter.
I left the dunes that evening with sand in my shoes, a full memory card, and a full heart. This is why I do what I do—to catch those quiet glances, wild laughs, celebrating the beauty of a pregnancy through a maternity session.
